Looking for business name ideas? Below you will find more than 160 original names for 14 kinds of small business, sorted into four styles. We made these names up as starting points. Before you use any of them, check that no one else has already registered it, as explained at the end of this page.
Business naming styles
Most good business names fall into one of these styles. Knowing them helps you invent your own.
- Simple and descriptive. Says what you do, like "Morning Loaf". Easy to understand, but harder to protect as a trademark if it is too plain.
- Indian flavour. Uses Hindi or regional words, like "Dabba Dost". Feels warm and local, and stands out in a market full of English names.
- Modern invented word. A new word made from parts of real words, like "Weavory" from weave and memory. Easier to trademark and to get as a domain.
- Playful. A rhyme, pun or funny picture, like "Pushup Panda". Easy to remember and great for social media, but may not suit serious services.
- Founder or place name. Your name or town, like "Meera's Kitchen, Nashik". Builds trust locally, but limits you if you sell the business or grow elsewhere.
- Blended. Two short words joined, like "Bowlvia" or "Clay and Cane". Gives some meaning with some uniqueness.

How to make a unique business name of your own
Use these lists as fuel, not as the final answer. Here is how to turn an idea into a name that is truly yours:
- Mix and match. Take the first half of one name and the second half of another.
- Add your place. "Thali Thikana Jaipur" is clearer for local customers and easier to protect.
- Change one sound. Swap a letter or a vowel to make a new word that still feels familiar.
- Use a local word you love. A word from your mother tongue can be a strong and unique brand.
- Say it out loud. Say it on the phone and in a busy market. If people mishear it, change it.

Business name numerology and lucky names
Many people in India like to check a business name with numerology, or ask for a list of lucky business names. That is a personal choice, and if it gives you confidence, there is no harm. But there is no proof that a number makes a business succeed. Customers buy because of good products, fair prices and trust.
If you use numerology, do it last. First make sure the name is easy to say, fits your business, and passes the trademark and domain checks. Then, among the names that pass, pick the one that also feels lucky to you. Do not choose a hard to spell name or add odd letters only to change a number, because that can confuse customers.
Check before you use any name
- Trademark: search the free trade mark public search on the official IP India website, ipindia.gov.in, especially in your class of goods or services.
- Company or LLP: if you are forming one, check the name on the MCA portal and follow its naming rules.
- Domain and handles: see if the .com or .in domain and social handles are free.
- Local search: look on maps and marketplaces for a business with the same name in your area.
Our name generator page explains each check step by step. Once you have a name, read our business logo ideas to give it a face.
Questions people ask
Can I use these business name ideas for free?
Yes, they are free ideas. But we have not checked every name against trademark records, so search each one on the IP India public search and check domains before you use it.
How do I find a unique business name?
Mix words, add your town or a word from your own language, or make a new word from parts of two real words. Then check trademarks, domains and social handles to be sure it is free.
Does business name numerology really work?
There is no proof that numerology affects business results. If it matters to you, use it only as a last filter among names that are already easy to say, fit your business and pass legal checks.
Should my business name be in Hindi or English?
Think about who will say it. A Hindi or regional name can feel warm and local, while an English or invented name may suit an online brand selling across India. Many good names mix both.
Can I change my business name later?
Yes, but it costs money and effort. You may need to update registrations, bank accounts, GST records, signboards and packaging, and customers may get confused. It is better to choose carefully at the start.
